Unknown Players Return for LAN3

UP turned AxA are back to UP for the third rendition of North America’s Call of Duty 2 LAN series. Unknown Players have made it past the group stage at both previous LANs, and will look to do it again this October in Columbus, Ohio. I caught up with the boy, Mr. Jacob PISS to get his thoughts going into the big weekend.

UP come in with a very similar roster of times past. the core 3 of case trizzy and sixxer back at it again. You’ve made it out of groups at both lans, what’s the goal this time around?

Even though ethix was unable to make it this time, we are happy to have our core back together – and yes, that includes case. We may not see eye to eye all the time, but we are happy to have him back in the fold and believe the golf squad, 1200 the homesteader, and the timmer wildcard can do some special things this time around. Expectation is simple: leave lan 2 in the dust, take care of business against the teams we know we can beat, take a map or two off the top 4 and try to make a run in the bracket – trump

How do the boys feel about the group draw? Any team in particular you’re excited to face?

Both groups look pretty damn even, and I truly believe that with all of the roster mix-ups we’ve seen, this is going to be the most competitive lan to date. We like our group draw, and believe that both Ultra and CAL-AC could pull off some sneaky upsets. However, I’m pretty excited to take Modern head-on at lan. We’ve spent a lot of time against each other online and it’s going to be a big one. – trump

You bring in timmer to shotty for case, and kind of free him up to frag, while doing the same at scope with 1200 for sixxer. What were the thoughts around those moves?

Honestly, it was a pretty easy decision to re-arrange the roles the way that we did with this current group. Sixxer is a generational player who can pretty much top frag with any gun in the game (even the shotgun), and I think he’s really enjoying the freedom of trying different things. Case made it very clear that he’d like to drop shotty and pick the bolt back up, and it seems to be suiting his game and our team comp much better. Keeping 1200 on scope was the clear path forward, as he is most comfortable with it in hand and could take on just about any scope in the community. Lastly, Timmer has significant cod2 experience and paired with his movement, it’s been a really good fit – trump

Is this going to be a similar UP playstyle of rosters past? Or can we expect the unexpected in Columbus this October?

I think a lot of people are going to be surprised to see this new type of playstyle out of us in Columbus. Historically, we had struggled with slow play (shocker) and finding ways to adapt / be dynamic when things aren’t going our way. We’ve spent a lot of time finding unique ways to attack different maps and different sides and are confident we will see the results in the server. – trump

Can we expect some booth action at some point, or are those days over for the boy?

I am 100% ready to get back in the booth – it’s one of my favorite things to do when I’m not playing. Unfortunately, the bubonic plague sidelined me last lan, but expect me to hop in at some point and put on a show for the viewers. – trump

Are you bringing the plague again?

NO: I am NOT bringing the plague this time – I will be flying directly from Chicago to Columbus and will not detour through Copenhagen this time. Already hammering the vitamin C and will keep the LMNT / liquid IV’s on standby – trump
