Order versus Chaos: Winner’s Bracket Finals

Order versus Chaos: Winner’s Bracket Finals

The two best teams in the bracket are exactly where they should be. Facing off tonight at 10pm in the Winner’s Bracket Finals of the Gathering of the Nerds Season 1 Playoffs. Janitorz has been the model of consistency all season, and Bricked Up experienced trial by fire during the regular season, but all is well, and everyone ends up where they’ve expected themselves to be, a guaranteed top 3 finish. A ticket to the grand finals is in play while the loser will brawl with the lower bracket’s sole survivor.

ORDER

Who called cap that?

Janitorz can be a versatile momentum-based team, but usually, they are cold-blooded and collected. The new roster has proven stability, but the curse of the 11-6 choke is still present as we saw in Week 8 on Matmata to CheckSix. They will have to play flawless if they want to take out Bricked Up in a best-of-three. Gl4d has been playing in 90 degree heat for the last week because of a grilled AC, and Janitorz truly needs him to channel the sweat and bring the heat for them to compete until the end. ERICERIC, GoTN’s lead meteorologist (specializes in tornadoes) has predicted the start of a cold front starting tonight near Toronto, which should give a solid chance to Janitorz favourite purse-wearing SMG.

GoTN S1 has been rough for Eric

Jayy has also been a near-victim to a powerful storm this past week, as he saw neighbours upon neighbours lose their minds without electricity, but blessed as he is, Jayy is safe, and unharmed as he simply proned in a corner of his condo. Harold, Hostage, and Nytrix, the core that has withstood all roster shake-up seasons, has another chance to prove to themselves that LAN was a fluke, and that they can take control, of any series, at any time.

CHAOS

Play confident, know your nades, win your 1v1s

Bricked Up don’t follow a script. They run, swing, push, and force teams to react, while Mylo picks teams apart at the seams. It’s pressure from the opening second, and if you’re unprepared, if you can’t handle it, the map slips away very very fast. What used to be recklessness has turned into calculated aggression. When they are on, they are ridiculously hard to beat, and when they are off, they still squeak out rounds with solid individual plays and battle-proven smarts. They are honest favourites to win it all, but if any team can try and abuse their play style, if any team can go toe for toe in skill, and to be perfectly fair, outplay them, it is Janitorz. The three-headed hydra that is Mylo, Dougski, and 1Shot, is a core of players that can rival with even the top teams in Europe. They have a ridiculous amount of hours together as a core and when they are ON, they play off each other extremely well. When they are off, it’s five players running around making questionable decisions. But let’s be honest, come match time, we’ve rarely seen this team completely out of it. Dirty and Polo will have to show up as they did versus PlusForward (who should be renamed MinusForward after seeing them play lately).

MAPS

Without going into too much details, Matmata will be a playground for both these teams. Toujane and Burgundy will also be heavily contested. Look for these teams to try and secure both Matmata and Toujane as their picks to minimize side disadvantage, with a contested Burgundy or Dawnville as third map. Breakout or Carentan could be a surprise pick if teams feel confident enough starting on a difficult allies side.

Enjoy the match, as it is the best North American Call of Duty 2 has to offer for now. This is the culmination of a gruelling blood-bath of an upper bracket, and a ridiculously long-winded playoff. You can bet on it, these two teams will meet up again in the Finals, as is tradition.
