Catching Up With Birdman – Flew Season
GOTN Streamer. Special Event Host Extraordinaire. Community Favorite. We caught up with Birdman, the man who casted almost a full day of cumulative matches while taking down a months worth of beer. Legend has it he single handedly kept Game Arena in business. Thank you for everything you do for us, Jeremy.
We were blessed to have you at LAN2, the jack of all trades. You killed some enemies, casted some matches, and even had a battle against the Michelob Ultra’s. How was your time in Columbus and who won the battle of man vs beer?
I am going to have to call it a draw, I came out of it relatively unscathed but I wasn’t able to deplete their stock of Ultra in my three days. Casting was a blast, it was great to finally cast with Kev in person and formed a new casting partnership with Cruiser that I am excited to continue. I definitely feel like I put in some work that weekend, both at the bar and behind the screen. I did some quick math on the way home, I casted just short of 18 hours that weekend and loved every minute of it.
Is there a funny team story you have that maybe most people didn’t get to witness?
I am not going to lie to you, most of the stories I have from our team can’t be repeated on the internet. I will say Friday night we went to the hockey game with Xlz and it was a blast but somehow him and I got sat next to each other and the seats were not made for the peak gaming performance that Mike and I bring to the table. Lets just say I spent around two hours with Mike, that both our wives would be jealous about.
Every LAN we expect a few wonky results, but your entire group was turned on it’s head quickly, and consistently. Ultimately that led to you guys getting a play in match vs emp. How was the team feeling/expectations going into that match and the day overall?
I think we were optimistic. We had some good results in scrims against them leading up but I think the boys gassed a bit. It was a long day and some mental mistakes cost us the match. I think we walked away happy though, our goal was always to make it out of groups, and technically we did that by making the play-in.
Did you have a favorite match to cast in Columbus?
Definitely the Toujane in the finals between Bricked up and Janitors. The pro’s don’t fake moment with Mike in the booth was amazing. Also an honorable mention, getting to cast Neph vs fan favorite Strokers had to be a highlight of my weekend.

Now it looks like your pug team days are behind you, as this offseason you are joining forces with zyk, nightmare & emp boys trauma & tox. How did this roster come about?
Zyk reached out a couple of weeks after lan and mentioned there may be a spot for a shotty in his new project. As soon as he laid out the roster I was in. Zyk, was always someone I had wanted to play with and had grown close to online leading up to LAN. I had also played the end of season 1 with Tox and Trauma on Family, so we already had a good relationship. I am really excited for the challenge, I loved playing with the Regi boys, but playing at lan reignited that competitive spirit and I knew after lan I was ready to buckle down and play on a team that can compete and put in some time.
Have the boys started practice? What’s the latest you can tell us about the squad if you have?
We have started practice, playing 2-3 nights a week and it has been going great. The boys have been vibing and we are making big strides. I think the expectation can be for this team to immediately be in the mix early.
You’ve bounced around recently, but you’ve played at every level in your career, past and present. What do you expect to bring to this roster? What is the goal of this team?
Yeah it’s been a rough year or so for me in Cod 2. I played at a high level back when the game was alive but in recent revivals, I have only played with GOTEM. When GOTEM split, I was a bit lost. I couldn’t make the first LAN so I delayed my return until spring and it was really rough shaking off the rust. I felt really behind and bounced around some teams, just never finding a good fit. I was a little slow returning after season one and kinda missed out on a lot of open spots for lan. I actually reached out to one of my oldest friends in the community, Doug, for some advice and he got my head straight. Once Wrenches reached out with the Regi opportunity I jumped on it because it gave me a competitive team that could perform on LAN. With this new team, I feel at home and finally comfortable again. I am back to playing on the level I expect of myself. I think my big contributions will be my experience and calm head. I have often been referred to as the glue guy, and have embraced that role. I am going to win some clutches and make sure the team stays on the tracks. I also think this is a great opportunity for me to show I still have it and can frag.
Any team in particular you’re looking forward to taking on in the league?
Honestly just excited to get started and see where we are at. I think playing UP will be fun just for the Nightmare connection and I’m excited to see how Lewis fits in at Awakening.
