GROUP A PREDICTIONS: A LESSON IS PAIN AND SUFFERING

Some heavy hitters line group A and the early action come Saturday, October 25th. I’m going to provide some award winning predictions on who’s going to be back at it Sunday and who will be joining me for a bunch of Trumpissers instead.

Janitorz – After not finishing in the money at Dallas J retooled and brought on gl4d to round out the lineup. It’s worked wonders with winning Season 1 and cups to follow. They’re the hot team going into the lan and I expect them to not only finish 1st in the group but make a finals appearance. Anything less would be surprising at this stage. Nytrix was great in Dallas and nothing should change here. I expect Harold to have better showing too especially with what he’s been putting in lately. Hostage, gl4d, and JaYyYyYyYyYyyYyYyYYYyY have all more than held their own. Their only enemy is themselves(mental EMO). I think they make a clean sweep to a 1 group seed but will find GOONS to be their toughest matchup.

PTW – Nytrix

GOONS – Dark horse of the group. Outright they’ve been on one lately. Team is different from season 1 and has been showing up in the cups. cru!zer has been on one but zexi is the creamed corn there right now. 1200 will be in spawn but that’s OK he is sniping and usually doing it well from there. athn is a real gooner out in every map. Sam is good also whatever screw them. But they are getting it together at the right time and I would not be surprised if they took the group. But they’re in the top 2 from A heading into Sunday.

PTW – Zexi

+F – Panther is your favorite players favorite player. It’s a fact you cannot escape. But the +F guys are coming in needing a good showing. Runner up in Season 1 has lead to close calls in the cups but there is talent there to push for a long Sunday. Bringing on brisk to scope has worked out well but Zack is the x-factor. He was fairly quiet in Dallas but if he breaks out +F will be a tough matchup for everyone. Shellshock was great in Dallas and has been for every event since. Kosmo is always bringing the heat so really it’s on panther to pull his big boy pants up and lead. +F moves on in that 3 seed out of group.

PTW – Zack

UP – Is it their time? Are they a team of destiny (2010 Blackhawks)? They had a fairly disappointing showing in Dallas for their standards but have remained competitive in the season/cups since. Ethix stepped back and nova was slotted in which loses a great rifle but opens them up to more flexibility especially on the smaller maps. It’s going to be interesting how trump fares here flying from Europe and the potential for some serious jetlag. But they have the pieces to do some damage and I wouldn’t be surprised to see caseman top fragging. Latina fire related I don’t have any puns here so come up with your own. But I wish they do well great group of people and are fraggers. I thing they slot into the 4 seed with a play in game after the groups(and get through).

PTW – Trump

Regicide – They will be fun and frisky. One of the teams where you look and they’re up 10-6 on the “favorite”. I fully expect them to be in the play in with UP by the end. They are the Party^ spoiler team for Columbus. God speed gentlemen in 10 days.

PTW – Birdman

RTD – They got a rough spot in this group. That’s not to say they’re dead in the water. Eric was on that x6 team that took second in Dallas. You have fraggers on the team. They’ve been putting in the work. Them taking a play in spot would not be surprising. It’s an uphill battle for them though and I think they will be the team joining us Sunday at the bar but who knows once the lan computers fire up.

PTW – ERIC

1 Janitorz

After a disappointing 4th place finish at the Dallas LAN, and a swift restructure seeing the addition of Gl4d and Jay, Janitorz come in as not just the favorites for this group, but arguably the favorites to win the whole event. This squad has been locked in and dominated GOTN Season 1 and were named the champions and I think anything other than winning the entire event will be seen as a failure for this squad. It’s time for them to put the haters aside and finish top of this group, they could go 5-0 or 4-1, their 1:30pm match against +foward will be the deciding factor in who takes top seed in this group, but as it stands right now, I have them pinned in as top of their group.

2 +forward

Another roster with a couple of changes after what I would consider a successful Dallas LAN and Season 1, +forward added brisk and the bald idiot king himself, panther to their roster. And while the latter continuously tries to sabotage the rest of his team by changing work shifts to play during week nights, you can’t knock the man for being prepared and being a steadfast voice in the server for his team. I think they have the potential to pull out an “upset” over janitorz and take the group, but if janitorz online form transfers to LAN, it’ll be a tall task, as it stands +forward will be most likely finishing 2nd in this group.

3 Unknown Players

Our third place finisher in this group could go either way between UP and GOONs, I’ve given UP a slight edge as they’ve proven themselves as solid players on LAN in Dallas, where that is currently an unknown quantity for GOONs.

4 GOONs

As stated above, 3rd or 4th can almost be interchangeable here, If GOONs plays up to their potential, we could see them taking third in the group… but if LAN reverts them back to before cruizer was gooning, we could see a crash out of group, I don’t see that happening, so I have them nestled in 4th in this group.

5 Roll The Dice

We’ve made it to our first of two teams in group A that were put together in the build up to LAN. Although this team boasts some firepower, I don’t see that being enough to push them past the heavy weights in group, Luckily for them, this is the smaller group and they may only need to win their match against the other team in their group constructed for LAN to make it to the play ins on saturday night, if they can manage that, they might just find themselves playing on Sunday.

6 REGICIDE

The second of our two teams that were formed for LAN, another roster that boasts some firepower, but ultimately I don’t think it’s enough to push them past the heavy weights, with that being said, they could pull something out and upset a team like GOONS or UP, so i’d expect both those matches and their match against RTD to be some entertaining CoD to watch, and if they manage to pull off an upset on either of the former two teams, well this group and their 1:30pm date with RTD will be a whole lot more interesting.

redz

Groups A: This group is tough to choose, I could see several different scenarios. The most likely is Janitorz continuing their, somewhat, dominance over the scene. Real question starts with #2 seed, does forward drop a map to UP or GOONS? I’d assume not, but it’s possible. UP vs GOONS will likely decide the 3rd seed. I suspect that match to be on Dawnville, a map that would favor GOONS. If UP somehow gets Matmata, I would lean UP. Leaving RTD and regi battling it out for the 5th seed to face the 4th seed in group B! RTD’s best shot would be getting this match onto Burgundy.

Standings:

Janitorz: 5-0

forward: 4-1

GOONS: 3-2

UP: 2-3

Regicide: 1-4

Roll the Dice: 0-5

stiff

5-0 – Janitorz (can you bet against them at this point?)

4-1 – Plus Forward (loss to Janitorz) Won’t have an issue in their wins, close loss to Janitorz.

3-2 – GOON (loss to Janitorz/Plus Forward) Been playing very solid as of last CUP.

2-3 – UP (loss to GOON/Jan/+F) Gut feeling.

1-4 – RTD (win vs Regicide) Adetpz won’t be cheating.

0-5 – Regicide (still finding their rhythm, will be close match vs RTD)

tripel

  1. +forward
  2. Janitorz
  3. Goons
  4. UP
  5. Regicide
  6. RTD
