Event Round Up: Bricked Up Secure Poop Cup; Janitorz Claim KOTH2, x6 Kings of KOTH3

Post-GOTN S1, the events over the past 3 weeks have continued to flow. With Just under two months until LAN2 in Columbus, teams have been itching to showcase and improve leading up to the biggest event of the year. The results of these events who the parity at the top, and should make for an exciting period leading up to, and at LAN. Big shoutout to Birdman, Trump, and Doug for their casting efforts over these last events.

quick shoutout to the lizards, who won the $500 draft cup on August 10th, just prior to these three events!

KOTH 2

KOTH2 started with a banger of a game on Carentan, with emp taking down a Roll The Dice pug that went the distance, 13-11 on Carentan. Tox took matters into his own hands, willing his team to victory with 26 kills and a performance that earned him secondary POTN, and $25. Empyrean moved on to face Nemesis on Trainstation_BHG, where the tides quickly shifted. The magic from map one didn’t carry over, as Nemesis took control early and held on to it, winning 13-8. Broa was the standout player with 21 kills.

Map three saw the event complete the map pool, as Nemesis took on +forward on Burgundy. A map that the w pressers are historically very good on, the challengers made quick work of their opponents, taking Burgundy 13-6. Despite losing, Zyk put in a great effort on the scope with 18 kills, while Zack & shell continued to lead the way for +forward. +Forward did not stop there, tearing apart Awakening the very next match on Burgundy, taking them down 13-3, in a match where little fight was put up from the start. These two performances earned Zack POTN, taking home $75.

FINAL MATCH

Plus forward made it to the finals with relative ease, but they knew their final task would not be as easy. GOTN S1 Champions, Janitorz laid in wait as the final foe. Despite many players needing to “download the map” ahead of the nights final match. In an epic, back and forth bloodbath on Train_BHG, Janitorz finally prevailed after 23 rounds, spearheaded by captain Harry putting in a superb performance.

POOP CUP

The second Friday Night Poop Cup of the year gave a chance for new teams to get some much needed match time, for pugs to have fun, and for some of NA’s best to frag. In Round 1, nph took out Roll The Dice to make it to the quarterfinals. After a quick quarterfinal that had Bricked Up, +Forward, Goons & an EMP/UP pug winning, things got a little interesting.

Despite +forward taking out Goons, 2-0, the scoreline was closer than it appeared. Goons put together a valiant showing as their stock continues to rise, taking 9 rounds on Burgundy & 10 rounds on Matmata. Bricked up almost had a little hiccup, but a win is a win, as despite losing map 2 in overtime, they took down the UP/Emp pug 2-1 to move onto the finals.

Bricked Up quickly refound their form, and in the dawn hours of the night, took down +Forward 2-0, with Dawnville going their way 13-9, and 13-11 on matmata. Unsurprisingly, NA’s top shotgun (and also poop cup organizer!) led the way in kills for the Bricked Up gang in the finals, as they pull the 2-0 sweep.

KOTH 3

KOTH3 wrapped up on September second, with another fun Tuesday match-night filled action packed action night. You get the point. Nemesis got off to a very impressive night, taking down Empyrean 13-8 on matmata, followed quickly by a 13-5 thrashing of goons on Dawnville. In both matches, it seemed that any time their opposition began to build up momentum, it was quickly shut down, and neither team was able to put a dent in Nemesis’ armor. With a great team performance in map 1, and an exceptional performance form nightmare on the scope in map 2, they cruised to match 3 only dropping 13 rounds total.

KOTH newcomers x6 were the challengers for the third match of the night that was set on Matmata once again. Nemesis, riding their first two strong performances, played a solid offensive half, leading 7-5. x6 was able to claw back, but the match went the distance, as they held on to a 13-11 victory. Saved by timely clutches from Tanaka and Will, as well as key frags in rounds by LeX and zondo, the newcomers squeaked through, despite an insane 16 nade-kill performance from Nemesis, including 9 from berry alone, with 24 total frags.

That map seemed to wake x6 up going into match 4. With Toujane being played, once again completing the KOTH map pool, this one ended up quite one sided. After taking the first round of the match on allies, x6 took the next 11 to end the half 11-1, in a half that included multiple back-breaking clutches.

FINAL MATCH

The nights final match went back to Tunisia, as Nephilim and x6 did battle on Matmata. x6 got off to a quick start on axis, leading 3-0. Nephilim showed that they were not going to go down easily, as they quickly took the next 3 rounds in succession to tie it back up at 3. Unfortunately, that was about all the resistance they were able to put up, as x6 eventually rolled to a 13-4 victory, claiming the KOTH3 Kingship. Big shoutout to Nephilim for filling in last minute to complete the full lineup.
