Verb’s Kingdom – King of the Hill – Recap
The inaugural King of the Hill is in the books. It wasn’t flawless, but it delivered on chaos, drama, and plenty of fragging.
We opened with a frigid Awakening squad against Tripel’s last minute pug, featuring Tuesday night hero Troy ‘Tanaka’. Awakening started ice-cold, dragging through a 6-6 German half on Breakout. DND looked prime for an upset in overtime until Tanaka seemed to go on vacation, leaving the pug short of finishing what it started. Awakening escaped, warmed up, and moved on to their next match up.

Next stop: Trainstation_bgh, the Harold–Athn remaster of Train. Empyrean seemed ready for it…until the match started. Allies side was a brick wall, and the map’s quirks had everyone guessing. Awakening‘s bolt work shredded Empyrean, while resident bear Verb casually dropped another monster performance. Roflcakes made noise and Redz clutched a ridiculous 1v4, but Awakening closed fast, keeping the event perfectly on schedule.

Another real test was next for our Kings, against a newly revamped Goons, led by everyone’s favourite cross-border import, cru!zer. Goons started hot but got iced when their usual carry, 1200, dropped an icebucket on his team. Awakening, fully warmed up at this point, clawed back and never let go. Athn, Zexi, and JustSam threw hands, but Verb smacked them down like a pimp, and ruled the scoreboard once again.

Caster-turned-vibe-commander Trump rallied Unknown Players for a shot at the throne, but with star shotgun Nightmare missing and Ethix subbing in, UP‘s play style on a map like Breakout, was completely turned on it’s head. Nate got stuck with a shotgun on breakout, facing up against Player of the Night Verb, and a true Nightmare ensued. Awakening speedran the map, and UP got the cue that we needed to keep the clock ticking and stay on schedule.

The last challenge of the night for Awakening was a +Forward team firing on all cylinders. Surprisingly, after experiencing PTSD for a couple weeks on Toujane, the squad still ended up choosing it, even against a red hot Awakening team. What Awakening knew, and what we didn’t, was that Nilla‘s bed time was passed due, and the man was fully cooked. Brisk and Zack took full advantage and feasted, completely dominating, to give +Forward a relatively easy 13-8 win. Even with Shell‘s rare 7 bomb, and an expected 6-18 from Panther, +Forward made a loud statement heading into their playoff match against Bricked Up.
Starting the trend, telly donated 25$, and additional donations came flying in from u4 Trauma, M80 Trauma, cru!zer, Desp!te, and even a bounty from Warboy on a 360 rifle shot. With Redz and Telly chiming in to confirm format and taking care of logistics, the first King of the Hill was bound to be a success.
What could possibly go wrong?
Players of the Night
1st place – 100$ – Verb (fun night on camsoda/chaturbate)
2nd place – 50$ – Tanaka (donated to LAN Caster bar tab)
Thank you for participating. Without teams committing, and planning their schedules around the format, this couldn’t possibly be a success, and it is all in your honour. Looking forward to the 2nd edition on Tuesday the 12th of August 2025.
Announcements soon.
Thanks GoTN !!!!
