goons: athn, 1200, Zexi, justsam, cru!zer

The next domino in the LAN free agency period has fallen. Four months later, as GOTN Season 1 crawls to a close (yes, it’s still going), the preparations for LAN 2 are in full force. With TripeL unavailable for LAN 2 and announcing retirement last month, that left the shotgun role void for Goons.

In steps cru!zer, the veteran loved throughout the community. The crafty shotguns’ experience in cod2 is second to none. He first made a name for himself in the good old days in the mutiny sweater, finding great success back in an era when most players couldn’t find 125 FPS. More recently, he came back right before LAN1 to form an epic “Here 2 Party” pug that did just that. They came prepared with epic shirts (I was lucky enough to get one myself), and played one of the most epic matches of the tournament in the play-ins (and winning) qualifying them for playoffs!

Most recently, Cruizer played an important role on Plus Forward in GOTN Season 1, filling in for multiple roles, and playing most of the playoffs for the group that is guaranteed a top 3 finish. His experience and willingness to adapt make him a water-like element that is a great addition to any squad. It could be just the piece that goons, a team right on the cusp of the next level up need to ascend.

Goons, the most notable team that missed out on LAN 1, came into the post-lan period with high expectations. Unfortunately, they didn’t get off the the start that they had hoped, finishing a surprising 1-4 in NightCup 10. In GOTN Season 1, they fared a bit better, ending the regular season with a 7-7 record, and making playoffs for a top 8 finish. It already seems to be paying dividends. Despite a group stage knock out in NightCup 11, Goons were able to take down Janitorz in their final match, 13-11 on dawnville.
