Group A: Awakening (8-1) vs +forward (8-1) – Wednesday 9:30est

Well, it’s these two again in an important rematch between the 8-1 teams. They played each other in an absolute banger of a week one match, taking it all 24 rounds. It feels like two of the top three are always in the MOTW against each other, but the schedule gods gave it to us on a weekly basis, so we take it. Plus forward took down Bricked Up last week, and have to be feeling great coming into this week. Awakening, too, have been quietly taking care of business, as both teams will need this match to fight for the top seed in the group.

Writer Prediction: +forward > Awakening 13-11

Community Predictions:

Match of the week, no question. If this one is not casted, riots might break out. +Forward are looking to avenge their Dawnville disaster, while Awakening is trying to lock themselves in as a top team in Group A. Carentan is not ideal for a heavyweight clash. Whoever starts German will have a massive edge. With Panther out this week (as far as I know), +Forward should manage more than zero rounds on Allies, and I think they pull it off.
Shell is a menace around south house and will be a problem if he gets rolling early. Even so, Neo and Xlzz have been around the block, and if they start taking over the map, do not be surprised if +Forward folds.

These two teams have changed quite a lot from their previous iterations, so it feels unfitting to use previous matches on Carentan as any kind of indication how this is going to go, but I fully expect it to be a real scrappy match. Between the setnades coming out of Tipzy and Awakening, and Verb being arguably the best shotgun in NA on such a strong shotgun map, I’m expecting Awakening to win this one 13-7. Awakening look for revenge after losing the first of the two matchups between these teams. The good news here is that the three teams atop group A created a love triangle; with Awakening > +forward, Bricked > Awakening, and finally +forward > Bricked. This is the week of all weeks for Group A, after the match above was postponed to this week.

Bricked up > Awakening – 13-10 – I think this one ends up being closer than what people may expect, bricked up lost 13-8 to +foward @ the dallas lan on burg, and recently lost just last week to +forward again, pretty bad in fact. I think doug being back to the squad up-lifts the team’s vibes and they get back to winning ways. It doesn’t seem like burg is their best map, but I think the rejuvenation of doug being back in the line up will secure the victory – everestt

True Clash of great teams this week. This will be a very close match at the end and will come down to the wire. Could see this going either way and I think this map is a good one for awakening. Nilla has the ability to absolutely decimate a team on this map.
