Week Three Recap – Group B

Week Three Recap – Group B

Good ol’ Group B has turned into an absolute circus following the events this week. Last week, we had the news of wizards, the groups number 4 seed on paper turning inactive. This week, UP drop both of their matches to fall to 3-3. The crew were defeated by Nemesis, who have pulled of yet another considered “upset”, completely turning this group on it’s head. It’s still much too early for UP to panic, they are clearly still the favorites to lock up 3rd place in this group. Nonetheless, every other team left in the group should feel like they have an equal shot at not only playoffs, but even outside dreams of a 3 seed.

“Relax. We are struggling, but we will be fine” trump of Unknown Players has stated publicly to the various comments from the community following the match. “I tried. Didn’t have the stuff. Every team has a bad streak, back at it again tomorrow. – trump continued. It’s the right attitude to have and the one they need going forward. UP will look to rebound in Week 4 on breakout.

Old School was then able to take down Nephilim to bring their record to 2-4. x6 and janitorz both improved to 5-0, winning 13-5, & 13-3 respectively, and now have a date with each other next week on Breakout. The teams have an identical record, and an almost identical round differential. Everything is pointing to this being one of the most important matches of the season for both teams. With all the chaos in this group below, these two have pulled away from the pack, and it seems like the only competition for winning the group will be with each other. As the original match of the week was delayed one week, the honorbale mention will have to make the cut. That gives +vibe an extra game next week, one that will likely be their most important of the season, as they go up against 3 teams right around them in the standings; UP, Nephilim & Nemesis. Asked about the upcoming week, broa of +vibe had this to say:

Gonna keep it rolling. The parity between us should keep it interesting. – broa

Performance of the Week (Group B): everestt

Nemesis had the week of their dreams, taking two big matches against teams right around them in the standings. The week launches them right into 3rd place in the group, over Unknown Players on tiebreakers, with a 3-3 record. Everestt did more than his part, by dropping back to back 20 bombs on both maps. They also started down 4-1 against Old School before ripping off 12 of the next 15 rounds.

We’re feeling really good, was huge to pick up a W yesterday against a struggling UP team, and to follow it up with another strong win vs oldschool has us feeling really good going into next week. We’re hoping to continue the trend against +vibe, albeit they may be our lucky charm as we scrimmed them before both of our matches and went on to win the matches. -everestt
