Week 3 Matches of the Week

Week 2 continued to bring the action. We saw a few upsets, and almost upsets. Vallente is the newest map in the pool. Until the map is more practiced, the teams are going to have to rely on their individual skill and staying ahead of the rapidly changing meta to try and pull out wins.

Honorable mentions:

#8 Farmers (2-2) vs #4 +forward (3-1)

#2 x6 (4-0) vs #6 Unknown Players (2-1)

Group A: Goons vs Awakening Wednesday 10pm EST *tentative

GOTN TWITCH

These two 3-1 teams will do battle in their first of two matches against each other this season, on Vallente. Both teams came into week two 2-0, and are coming into week three 3-1. Awakening is coming off a tough loss to #1 Bricked up in Toujane, while goons is coming off a loss to #4 +forward. Week three gives us #3 Awakening (3-1) vs #7 Goons (3-1) This one is shaping up to be a big one for the standings.

We haven’t put alot of thought into the teams really, more thought in our game and what we want to do. The opponent doesn’t really matter, its whether or not we can come out and play the game at the level we know we can play at. The potential to be great is there, we just need to dig deep. Vallente is going to be a challenge, but i think as a team we can rise to that challenge. 1200

Goons have been on my radar for a while. Zexi is one of the more underrated players we have in our community, dude can flat out frag. After a lot of people gave 1200 a hard time for “not moving from spawn” he has started to switch up the pace and became a bit more unpredictable. All that being said, I still have full confidence in my boys and feel we should get the job done. – tipzy

Writer Prediction: Awakening > Goons 13-8

Community Predictions:

Awakening > Goons 13-7 The star studded awakening, take on the cuddly hunks of goons. This is a great measuring stick week to see where goons are at in the process of becoming a solidified threat to top teams. The newcomer for the team, tripel, will have to play a key role this week to see any sort of success. Awakening has fire power all over the place and I’m certain neo wants to come back to his previous, on fire, form. POTM: neo (so long as he’s learned about A street) – redz

Awakening > Goons 13-9 This match will be close and I could justify flipping that score line either direction. Vallente is a map that teams are still learning, and having played Awakening on it in the past, I know they are really solid on it. I think the simplicity and familiarity of how the map plays favors Awakening. Goons will need their whole roster to show up and frag with some strong nades and strats to take it.roflcakes

Awakening > Goons 13-10 Vallente is a shooters map and there are some shooters. Nilla vs 1200 should be a fantastic scope battle. Both teams have heavy nades and can push pace at multiple speeds (A rushes I think will be the Allied key if one team can find sustained success with them). Going with the “favorites” in A 13-10. – heroLP

Group B: Nephilim vs +vibe Wednesday 9:30pmEST

GOTN TWITCH

With Wizards getting off to an 0-3 start, and potentially out of the competition entirely, this match suddenly becomes potentially a huge match in the fight for the fourth playoff spot. If it wasn’t cool enough having two new teams playing each other for the first time, it will be on the new map in the pool, making it all that much more unpredictable. #9 +vibe (1-2) vs #10 Nephilim (1-2)

The VIBES are still LARGE and THROBBING. The boys have some confidence going into this next week after the match vs x6. I’m expecting a pretty close matchup being two new teams on a new map. – broa

Our last match definitely gave us more confidence which honestly has been building from our week 1 matchups. We have a lot of respect for +Vibe—they’ve had a strong showing so far. That said, our guys are confident in our approach to strategy. It’s an important matchup, and we’re looking forward to the challenge. First and foremost our focus is on Old School this coming Sunday. – stiff

Writer Prediction: +vibe > Nephilim 13-11

Community Predictions:

+vibe > Nephilim 13-5 I, one of the 4 horsemen, have shown the boys on vibe the power of the horse, a power that is unmatched on vallente :coolfingerguns:. I am giving my very biased opinion, as I fully expect broa to lead his boys to victory. Neph is going to be taken to the woodshed, wrangled up like a bull on Saturday night, and learn them a lesson or two about the best map in the game. – redz

+vibe > Nephilim 13-6 +Vibe showed they have a solid understanding of how to play a patient, controlled style against x6. If they can keep that same team focus against nephilim, they will have no trouble beating them. – roflcakes

Nephilim > +vibe 13-11 It’s all about Magnum lately but he gave NPH a spark the first week and I think Broa takes that role for +vibe this week. Look for 87 no scope shots from mercy and LOOSE getting at least a 1v4 clutch. Another set of great aim play but NPH pulls a 13-11 nailbiter in the end. – heroLP
