Arch… Nemesis

Team Nemesis LLC reforms and hopes to make a splash in GOTN Season 1. I sat down with everestt to learn more about their history, and aspirations for the upcoming season.

Q: Can you give us a little history on yourself, your teammates, and how you came together ahead of GOTN season 1?

A: My name is Billy “everestt” Cruse, although people may know me better in the cod community as dsx. I played cod2 as a kid, being in a couple of different clans, but never competitively. I started playing games competitively in cod4, where I met my currently teammates, chocochumk, pride$$$, WINDWAY, and owlivahh.

I joined nemesis shortly after the first cal season of cod4 shortly after chocochumk had joined and we played CAL, CEVO, and TGL together. Eventually we would play with owlivahh and windway, and played under a handful of different names together, including trashRus, MINDSLAVE, and Boss. We won tgl-o in 2009 under the name Boss, but unfortunately shortly after, life got in the way and we split up as a majority of guys didn’t have time to play. After that I joined The Final Stand’s cod4 roster, where I met pride$$$.

When black ops 1 came out, I was briefly on veneration before going to boot camp, after being away from gaming for about 9 months, I came back to see the competitive scene was still alive in cod4, and linked up with sh0tyz. We ended up attending Ignite 1 lan together as Team Nemesis LLC. After returning from Ignite 1, we were sponsored by Team Super which we attended Ignite 2 under. After ignite, our squad broke up and I briefly played under rSports and J4F.

After that I transitioned to csgo, which is when I changed my name to everestt, where I found decent success, playing ESEA-M and CEVO-P for a couple of seasons under the team that would become mwnL and another team called superiors. In between stints in csgo, sh0tyz, myself and a few other guys founded janitorz for a cod4 revival tourney, and I was a part of janitorz for the short life of battalion 1944. After that I took a break from competitive gaming and focused on things outside of gaming until the Dallas lan, which I saw and really made me wanna pick up cod2 again.

Q: Your team comes into the season alongside some of the “new” crop of teams. What’s the mentality of the team and what are you guys doing to prepare?

A: The biggest thing we’ve been doing to get prepared is to try and get just game time in. Chocochumk, superman, and owlivahh have been playing cod2 and have been apart of this community for a while now, whereas pride, windway, and myself are just coming back into it. We’re all trying to get back into it with the time we do have. Unfortunately we’re all older now so we don’t have the time to sit down and strat and scrim 5 days a week, so any game time is a plus for us. I think as the season goes on, we will continue to get stronger as we play more and more as a team.

Q: Does the team plan to attend LAN 2?

A: It hasn’t really been discussed in great length. I know myself and a couple of the guys really want to, but we’re going to see how the season goes and go from there. You will probably see some iteration of Team Nemesis at the second lan, even if it’s with a couple ringers.

Q: Vallente or Railyard?

A: I haven’t played railyard since 2009 lol, but I’m open for playing new maps and I do like Vallente. I think it’s good for the community to at least try something new. I prefer that over playing the same maps we’ve had for 20 years now that have been stratted to no end. I think vellente adds some freshness to the game, so my vote goes to vellente.

Q: Is there any team or team(s) in particular you’re excited or looking forward to play against (and potentially beat?)

A: I think the only obvious one is playing janitorz as 3 of us have been apart of janitorz at some point and owlivahh is Bob sleds brother. I think that match will be a fun one lol.
